This pan is often called by a different name – that starts with the letter P – because of the shape of the mold. It is a Lodge Acorn Pan, modeled after the California Oak Acorn. The pan was manufactured by the Lodge Mfg. Co. between 1925 and 1940. Because of its unique design, the pan is highly sought-after, and scarce.
The acorn pan is 11-7/8″ long handle to handle. 10-3/8″ long from end of mold section. It is 6-1/2″ wide, and each acorn is 6-1/4″ long (fancy that!).
Due to of the shape of the acorns, the pan sits on the deepest part of the mold. It will rock from side to side when pressed, but that is because of the characteristics of the pan and not because of a defect. It will have no impact on cooking, as this will cook in your oven, and not on your stove.
There are some pinpricks on the interior of the acorns, and a few on the exterior of the pan.
I have taken lots of pictures, so click on the magnifying glass to see them in detail.
This pan has been thoroughly cleaned, and has one coating of seasoning. It is ready for immediate use or display!
