Here is a fantastic gift for someone special, or for yourself. This is a set of 8 Wagner Ware stylized logo smooth-bottom skillets, in sizes 3 – 10. These skillets were all manufactured by the Wagner Manufacturing Company in Sidney, Ohio between 1935 and 1959.
Each skillet is marked on the bottom with the Wagner stylized logo – WAGNER WARE SIDNEY -0- , followed by the product number at the bottom near the handle. Each skillet has been cleaned to bare iron and heat-seasoned with one layer of Crisco vegetable shortening. Each pan is ready for use and display!
Skillet 3: pn 1053 H. 6-1/2″ in diameter, and 1-3/8″ tall. Excellent. Lovely pan which will be even more so with additional use and seasoning. Some movement when pressing along the upper rim.
Skillet 4: pn 1054. Sits flat. 7-1/8″ in diameter, 1-3/4″ tall. Near mint.
Skillet 5: pn 1055 H. 8-1/8″ in diameter, 1-7/8″ tall. Sits flat. Small letter H on underside of the handle. Light signs of use; nothing of particular note.
Skillet 6: pn 1056 Y. 9″ in diameter and 2″ tall. Sits flat. Light signs of use; nothing of particular note.
Skillet 7: pn 1057 H. 9-3/4″ in diameter, 2″ tall. Sits flat. One small raised casting bump on bottom of pan. Gorgeous glossy black cooking surface.
Skillet 8: pn 1058. 10-1/8″ in diameter, 2-1/4″ tall. I can make the pan move when pressing hard along the upper rim, but the pan is not a spinner. In my view, the pan will be fine on any cooktop, though it might be best suited for a cooktop with raised burners (see my blog post on this issue, here). Beautiful glossy cooking surface with just slight signs of use.
Skillet 9: pn 1059. 11-1/4″ in diameter, 2-1/2″ tall. Sits flat. Some signs of use to cooking surface – see photos. Lovely casting on bottom. This pan will be a great cooker.
Skillet 10: pn 1060 A. This pan measures 11-7/8″ in diameter, 2-1/4″ tall. Sits flat. Some areas are darker than others; this will even out with additional use and seasoning. Small indentation (air bubble during casting) on inner wall near handle.
