This is a cool old sad iron set. It makes a lovely display – I had a set in my office and used it as a paperweight.
The sad iron trivet was manufactured by the Enterprise Mfg. Company in Philadelphia, PA. some time in the mid- to late-1800s. The trivet is 6-1/8″ long by 4-3/8″ wide at its widest, and it is 1-1/4″ tall. It sits flat on 3 stubby feet. There are no chips, cracks, or signs of repair. It does have some light pitting scattered throughout – please see photos. It is marked ENTERPRISE M’F’G. CO. PHILA U.S.A. It has a scroll E in the center. The trivet is in “as found” condition. Please see photos.
The iron is marked ENTERPRISE MFG CO. PHILA. PA. The wood handle detaches from the iron. The iron and handle are also in “as found” condition (though they are clean and not cruddy…) – please see photos.
