We don’t get many of these!
This is a beautiful hammered cast iron dutch oven. We strongly suspect it was made either by CHF (Chicago Hardware Foundry) or Puritan sometime in the first half of the 1900’s.
The font is similar to CHF, but the broken basting rings are similar to Puritan!
It is 4″ tall, and 10-1/2″ in diameter. It does not sit flat, but rocks and spins. This naturally is of no consequence in an oven, but it is better suited to raised cooktops such as gas when used on your stove. I have lowered the price as a result.
It is marked with “88A” on the lid, and “88C” on the pan.
This dutch oven is in gorgeous condition. There are only very light signs of use!
There is some variation in color, both on the interior walls and on the underside, but this will fade with additional use and seasoning. Please look at the pictures.
This pan has been thoroughly cleaned, and heat seasoned with one coat of Crisco. It is ready for immediate use or display!
