I have not been able to find a definitive answer on the maker of this little vintage skillet. It appears that some theorize that it was made by Favorite, or Chicago Hardware Foundry. I do not know the maker.
This is a number 5 pan – a handy size to have. I make my morning eggs in my #5 skillet. The pan measures 7-7/8″ in diameter and 12-1/4″ to the end of the handle. It is 2″ tall. The cooking surface is a lovely glossy black with just few signs of use. The pan will get only better with additional use and seasoning. The pan has a heat ring and sits flat.
The pan is marked on the bottom with the number 5 encased in a diamond. There is an outer heat ring as well as a reinforced rim.
I cleaned this pan to bare iron and heat-seasoned it with one coat of Crisco vegetable shortening. It is ready for use and display!
