This is the perfect gift for a family that likes cooking!
Griswold No. 12 skillets are highly desirable, but the lids are very difficult to find. This skillet+lid set will save you months, if not years of searching.
The No. 12 skillet was made by the Griswold Manufacturing Co between 1920 – 1929. It has the Griswold large block logo on the underside, and is marked with “CAST IRON SKILLET 12” above, and “ERIE, PA., U. S. A.” below, along with the pattern, 719. It has a heat ring.
This pan is gorgeous! Some of the original grinding marks are still visible on the interior walls, and the cooking surface has very few signs of use. There is some faint variation in color in particular light, but this will even out with additional use and seasoning.
The exterior walls are excellent, there is no pitting, and the markings are crisp and clear.
It measures 14-3/8″ across the pouring spouts, and sits almost flat. There is the tiniest amount of movement when I press firmly on the rim, this is stabilized with a business card. This pan will be a wonderful cooker on all cooktops!
The lid is marked on the top with raised letters “GRISWOLD No 12 SELF BASTING SKILLET COVER” and on the underside is “PATENTED SEPT. 22. 19225. PAT’D. FEB. 10 1920.” above the logo, and “ERIE PA., U. S. A.” along with the pattern 472. The markings are crisp and clear.
The upper side of the lid has some light pitting, but the underside is fabulous. I have taken lots of pictures, so look at them in detail.
This wonderful set has been thoroughly cleaned, and heat seasoned with one coat of Crisco. It is ready for immediate use or display!
This set comes with free shipping to the 48 contiguous states, and reduced shipping elsewhere.
