Product Description
Made by the Griswold Manufacturing Co in Erie, Pennsylvania, in the 1930’s, this vintage skillet features the Griswold large block logo on the underside, with “CAST IRON SKILLET 8” above it, and “ERIE, PA., U. S. A.” below, as well as the pattern number, 704 N. The writing is crisp and clear.
The pan is approx 15-3/8″ long, including the handle, and 11-1/4″ wide at the pouring spouts.
This pan has a shallow depression in the middle of the cooking surface, approx 2″ in diameter. This is seen as an outward bulge on the underside of the pan. This means the pan does not sit flat – it has a noticeable rocking movement.
This pan is not suitable for flat cooktops such as glass or induction stoves. It should be fine on raised gas burners, or would also make a great camping pan!
Aside from this, the pan is in great shape. The cooking surface has a lovely glossy patina with only very light signs of use and the exterior is wonderful.
This pan has been thoroughly cleaned, and heat-seasoned with one coat of our special mixture of coconut & canola oils, and beeswax.
It is ready for immediate use!
