I have not been able to find a definitive answer on the maker of this little vintage skillet. It appears that some theorize that it was made by Favorite, or Chicago Hardware Foundry. I do not know the answer.
This is a number 5 pan – a handy size to have. I make my morning eggs in my #5 skillet. The pan measures 8-1/2″” across the pouring spouts, and 12-1/4″ to the end of the handle. It is 2″ tall. The pan has a heat ring and is suitable for all cooktops.
The cooking surface and interior walls are beautiful. There are some areas of color variation on the external walls – please take a look at the photos.
The pan is marked on the bottom with the number 5 encased in a diamond, with the letter B. There is an outer heat ring as well as a reinforced rim.
I cleaned this pan to bare iron and heat-seasoned it with a mixture of coconut and canola oils, as well as beeswax. It is ready for use and display!
