What a beauty! This fabulous flamingo red & cream piece is known as a vegetable dish. It was made by the Griswold Manufacturing Co in Erie, Pennsylvania in the 1950’s. It also came in buttercup yellow with dove grey.
It features the Griswold large block logo on the underside with the pattern number “89”. The lid also has “89” imprinted on the underside. It measures 9-5/8″ x 7-3/8″ and is 2-3/8″ tall.
It’s hard to find ceramic pieces in good condition, and this piece is particularly lovely. The interior is a lovely smooth cream that has retained its gloss and the exterior is bright red. This dish has only the lightest signs of use.
There are a couple of very faint, superficial scratches on the underside and what looks like a popped air bubble on the rim. There are a couple of tiny marks on the handle. I have taken lots of pictures, so please click on the magnifying glass to view them in detail.
This would make a wonderful gift for a loved one, or a stand out dish on your table.
