This is a very cool piece. It is a cast iron Scotch bowl which was manufactured by the Wagner Mfg. Co. in Sidney, Ohio between 1900 and the 1920s. It is marked as shown in the photos: “WAGNER” SIDNEY O 4. It has an assist ring and bail handle. It sits flat. It measures 11-1/4″ in diameter and it is 4-1/2″ tall.
I believe that the bowl originally had a plated finish; some of the finish remains on the bowl, as you can see in the photos. That gives this bowl a very cool vintage patina. It is a beautiful piece!
The interior of the bowl has some pinpricks on the bottom – please take a look at the photos so that you can see for yourself.
The bowl has been cleaned and heat-seasoned with one coat of Crisco vegetable shortening. It is ready fro use and display!
