What an awesome find! Small Dover “Dolly” cast iron sad iron with tin top and wood handle, AND the very scarce trivet. This is a sweet miniature set. I believe that this set was manufactured in the 1800s, by the Dover Stamping Company in Boston, MA.
All 3 pieces have a silver tone or nickel plating, and are in “as found” condition. I did not do any cleaning to this set; I wanted to leave the original patina intact. The cast iron trivet has three stubby feet. It is 3-3/4″ long by 7/8″ wide at its widest. The cast iron dolly iron fits nicely onto the trivet. It is marked DOVER MADE U.S.A. DOLLY IRON. The bottom of the iron has a particularly nice patina. The tin top removes with a latch, as you can see in the photos. It has the original black wooden handle.
This is a beautiful little set and will make a sweet display piece.
