Very nice Griswold cast iron #8 small logo skillet. This skillet has the “grooved” handle. It was manufactured by the Griswold manufacturing company between 1944 and 1957. The skillet is marked on the bottom No. 8 with the small Griswold logo, and the p/n 704, followed by the letter A. The bottom surface is particularly nice – the lettering is crisp and clear, and the casting very even.
The skillet measures 10-1/2″ in diameter. It is 15-1/8″ to the end of the handle, and it is 2″ tall. It sits flat. This pan will be a great cooker!
The cooking surface and inner walls have light pinpricks and superficial roughness as you would expect to see on a vintage used skillet. I do expect that the surface will be gorgeous glassy smooth with additional use and seasoning. The rim is has a few very small nicks on the outside near the handle – I took a photo so you can see for yourself. I believe this is just a small casting flaw.
I cleaned the pan to bare iron and seasoned it with one coat of Crisco vegetable shortening. It is ready for use and display.
